Psych660 Wk 6 Summative Assessment Decision Making Presentation
📋 Assignment Instructions
Ethical dilemmas can appear in many settings, especially when new technologies and human behavior intersect. In this assessment, you will apply what you’ve learned about ethical principles and decision-making models in a realistic situation by using an ethical decision-making framework to analyze a complex dilemma and determine a responsible action.
Assessment Preparation
Read the following scenario:
You are a research assistant at a non-profit organization conducting a study on stress and burnout among early-career teachers. The project uses an AI-based transcription and sentiment analysis tool to process interview data.
Midway through the study, your supervisor informs you that a presentation is being prepared for a potential donor interested in funding future phases of the research. To make a stronger impression, your supervisor asks you to include raw AI-generated sentiment scores and excerpts from participant transcripts. However, you notice that some of the AI interpretations appear inaccurate or overly simplistic, and the excerpts contain identifying details that could compromise participant confidentiality.
You feel uncomfortable with this request and decide not to include the data in the presentation. Your supervisor is displeased with your decision, and you are asked to meet with the organization’s ethics committee to explain your reasoning and document your decision-making process.
To clearly present your concerns and support your position, you will create a slide presentation demonstrating how you used an ethical decision-making model to analyze the dilemma and guide your final decision.
Review Corey, Corey, and Callanan's Eight-Step Ethical Decision-Making Model to recall how to apply it to analyze an ethical dilemma. You will use the scenario and the model to complete the assessment.
