Unfortunately, stress is a part of life, and each person will have a unique reaction to stress. That said, the human body has systems in place that respond when stress is experienced. In this assessment, you’ll examine these systems and what takes place in them during a stressful situation.  Assessment Preparation Scenario: You have been invited to speak at a local university for an introductory course in neuropsychology. The academic advisors have asked you to create a presentation for students to follow along as you discuss stress, its impact on the body, and the different functions of the human nervous and endocrine systems.  Read the I’m So Stressed Out! fact sheet from the National Institute of Mental Health to learn how to tell whether a feeling is stress or anxiety, as well as coping strategies for stress and anxiety.  Assessment Deliverable  Create a 10- to 12-slide presentation in which you distinguish the functions of the human nervous and endocrine system and describe the stress response in the human body. Address the following in your presentation: Describe the primary difference between how the nervous system and the endocrine system each transmits information in response to stress. Describe a situation where someone would experience (extreme) stress and explain the biochemical processes that take place in the nervous and endocrine systems during the situation.  Describe the process of resistance to stress and how the body works to “adapt” to chronic stress.  Describe some of the hormones involved in the body’s response to stress.  Explain how these hormones influence a person's physical and mental health over time.   Explain 2–3 healthy strategies you might suggest first-year university students use to cope with stress.  Cite at least 2 peer-reviewed, scholarly references. Format your citations and references according to APA guidelines.  Include a title slide, a reference slide, and detailed speaker notes of at least 50 words per slide.  Submit your assessment.
