A secure, healthy attachment with the caregiver is very important because of how this affects an infant’s ability to learn how to express feelings and actions as well as develop other skills. There are five main areas of infant development: • Gross motor skills: These skills include crawling, jumping, and running. These skills help children with balance and coordination. • Fine motor skills: These skills include writing and drawing. • Speech and language: This area includes the development of language skills. • Cognitive development: This area includes the development of thinking, memory, attention, reasoning, and planning. • Social and emotional development: This area includes skills such as playing with other children and expressing and understanding emotions.
