Imagine you are president of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and have been asked to sit on a special committee that is working to ease the transition between the elementary (grades K–5) and middle (grades 6–8) school levels for students. The committee consists of the district’s child development team, teachers, other parents, and school coaches. As a member of the committee, you will be discussing a child’s developmental changes from early to middle childhood. The information explaining childhood psychological milestones and developmental stages will then be provided as a supportive guide during middle school new parent orientation.
