And because young children are fundamentally connected to their families, early childhood professionals work with both children and families. For this reason, developing the skills needed to establish and maintain positive relationships with families is a crucial part of working in early childhood education. Imagine this scenario: The director of your early childhood care center wants to launch an initiative to promote an engaging, positive and inclusive environment for all families within the community who use the care center’s services. The childcare center is located in a diverse urban area and serves families from a range of cultural backgrounds.  As part of this initiative, you have been asked to prepare a presentation for a parent-teacher meeting that will help the parents and teachers understand the relevance of the initiative and techniques to foster positive relationships.
