In your local community, Samuel Kilts (38) has been arrested and indicted on charges of receiving stolen goods in excess of $1,000 and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. His criminal justice history indicates these charges are his second conviction. He is going back to prison for a term of approximately 5–10 years with parole. His first set of charges arose following reports from neighbors to the police of continual drug activity at his house. This was especially troubling because of concerns about the endangerment of his 7 year old daughter. It was his first offense; he only served 2 years and probation. Related to the second set of charges, a routine probation check of his home revealed 28 grams or more of cocaine in his room. That justified an in-depth search which uncovered other drugs throughout the home (some accessible by his child). Kilts is currently being held in the local jail awaiting sentencing and placement rulings. As the professional support worker, you are tasked with working with Samuel at the jail.
